Note to members from SMI Executive Director, Scott Milne
I have just received some shocking and very sad news. Dr Stewart Jessamine died suddenly on Thursday, February 7.
Stewart’s career included being a rural General Practitioner to serving at the Ministry of Health from 1993 to the end of 2018. He will be known to many members for his role as Group Manager at Medsafe.
Stewart was a good guy and a great friend to NZSMI. He will be remembered for his openness and thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector and its regulatory environment. A true Scots gentleman, his refined wit and incisive insights were a drawcard at many conferences.
Only last week I had introduced him to the new Director General of WSMI as he had recently taken up a new role representing NZ at WHO.
He will be sadly missed by our sector. Our best wishes and deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.
